Customer discovery and validation…say what? That’s just a fancy way of saying finding the best audience for your company and product. Students in the Future Entrepreneur Challenge tackled this topic after identifying problems and solutions. The whole point of this is to understand customer problems, needs, and contexts so that they’re prepared for their future startups.

But where to start? Knowing how to ask the right questions (like students learned in problem and solution) is critical in finding your user and for user interviews, so students first learn research and interview skills. These skills are so important in entrepreneurship because they inform everything from the product idea to the business plan, all built around the user experience. Once students have honed their skills, they then interview potential users and work in groups to synthesize all data points to create a team persona. A persona is a fictional representation of a business’s ideal customer. Having these personas helps a business relate to their customers as real humans, so students can better create their product. Plus, these research and interview skills help give students an academic edge in school and college.

Finding and knowing your audience is important for entrepreneurship. But the skills to do that are equally important for school and college. If your student is ready to try out the world of entrepreneurship and grow their research and interview skills, Harmony Plus has another FEC coming up. Click this link to learn more!
