Instructor Shoutout: Ethan Schur
If you don’t already know the name, “Ethan Schur,” you should. Titleholder and $1 million prize winner of “America’s Greatest Maker,” Ethan is one impressive entrepreneur. Currently CEO at Grush and the inventor of the smart connected toothbrush technology, he’s also CTO at Telepresence Robotics Corporation (TRC). TRC disrupts the economics of the service robot industry with an advanced multipurpose modular robot and MMR-Platform.
If that’s not enough, Ethan has been honored with the VFX Societies Lumiere Award and is a board member of the VR Film Festival and the Robotic Fashion Network. While it’s clear he’s very tech-savvy, he is also an accomplished speaker, panelist, and moderator who has appeared on Forbes, CNN, TBS, and others. Ethan is a co-author of several patents and papers, as well as being an accredited journalist with the International Federation of Journalists. With such an impressive resume, you think Ethan would be busy. But he still finds time to be a teacher with Harmony Plus, leading successful Future Entrepreneur Challenge courses.
One of the Harmony Plus courses that Schur teaches is presentation skills. This advanced course teaches students the skills they need for pitching their business ideas to investors. Over four weeks, students learn techniques to create powerful presentations, while perfecting their delivery. Throughout this course, students receive instruction and mentorship from Ethan. Teaching a skill like presenting can be difficult since it involves public speaking which can be a huge fear for many. But Ethan makes it accessible and fun! One student, Sophia, loved this class and loved how Ethan taught it. Ethan’s kindness and encouragement helped her work through being nervous when pitching. He taught her all about the in-depth tactics of pitching, especially elevator pitches. She even used the concepts and skills he taught her for a presentation she gave to a third-grade class.
Another student found Ethan’s presentation class to be extremely helpful. One of the main activities they enjoyed was the realistic, last-minute presentations that Ethan had them give. This exercise gave the student a sense of real-life applications for these skills. This particular student also enjoyed the pitches Ethan assigned where they had more time to prepare since it allowed them to develop their presentation more. Overall, both students thoroughly enjoyed the class, learned valuable skills, and, most importantly, loved the teacher!
If you’re considering signing your child up for a Harmony Plus course, look no further than the ones taught by Ethan. With his impressive background and skill set, he is the perfect teacher to instruct students about being a successful entrepreneur. Let him share his wisdom and knowledge with your child and watch them flourish from school to career, just as Ethan has.
