Reading and Writing Program Series

Reading and writing are necessary for everything from school classes to job applications. Harmony Plus has joined forces with leading teachers from top schools to launch five reading and writing courses tailored to the requirements of successful American students.

The courses, available for grades 4–10 and either winter boot camp or regular program, are:

• Non-fiction Reading and Writing

Future Entrepreneur Challenge (FEC)

If you’re looking for your child to become the next wildly successful entrepreneur like Jeff Bezos or Steve Jobs, this is the course for them. With its transformative educational concepts and innovative training models, this unique course has been sought after by Silicon Valley students since its launch. Currently, nearly 400 students have participated in the Future Entrepreneur Challenge (FEC) and two top school districts in Silicon Valley (Fremont Union High School District and East Side Union High School District) have introduced this program to their students.

The Future Entrepreneur Challenge by Harmony Plus combines entrepreneurial training, presentation skills, UX design, and a high-end professional competition that features Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, angel investors, and senior technical experts for grades 6–12. Based on Stanford’s Design Thinking theory, entrepreneurial methodology, and integrated with Silicon Valley’s innovation and entrepreneurial resources, this course (available in winter boot camp and regular program) guides students to design their own entrepreneurial plans. Not only that, but your child will establish long-term contacts with influential investors in Silicon Valley and have the opportunity to be selected for the second-level in-depth incubation project!

Soft Skills Enhancement Programs

Colleges prefer applicants with both soft and hard skills. And while hard skills are easier to learn, how do you grow soft skills? Harmony Plus offers two intensive soft skill enhancement programs that are here to help you out!

1. Future Leader Academy (FLA)

Leadership is one of the most valued soft skills for admissions officers in American universities. But how can your child become a leader? To help cultivate leadership, Harmony Plus has launched Future Leader Academy (FLA), a six-part module for grades 8–12 led by Dr. Matthew, a professor at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and a leadership training expert. In this online course, children develop essential leadership skills, build confidence, and enhance their teamwork abilities, all while preparing for university applications, internships, and jobs.

2. Extracurricular Activity, Trainee, and Internship Club (EATIC)

Extracurriculars and internships look good on college applications but getting children involved with them can be difficult if you don’t know where to start. But Harmony Plus’ Extracurricular Activity Trainee and Internship Club (EATIC) has your answer. EATIC works closely with famous Silicon Valley non-profit organizations, companies, and educational institutions to give your child valuable personal and professional support. These consultants share exclusive internships and extracurricular activities to help give each child an advantage for college applications and future jobs. As members of the club, students work closely with the club advisors and have the opportunity to connect with other high-achieving students. Members also have the option to join bi-weekly workshops, webinars, and discussion sessions on extracurricular activities and internships. By participating in activities outside the traditional classroom, children gain hands-on experience as well as develop essential soft skills, such as leadership, management, and teamwork abilities, making this course perfect for all. Summer Professor Research and Competition Programs

Summer isn’t just for vacations — it’s also a prime time for children to strengthen and improve themselves. The Harmony Plus Summer Professor Research and Competition Programs let students grades 9–12 work first-hand on projects with professors from schools like UC Berkeley, all while gaining skills in coding, research, and more.

The Summer Professor Research and Competition Program has two courses:

• The Data Strategy Research Project and
• The Kaggle Big Data and Machine Learning Competition Project

The Data Strategy Research Project is an in-depth scientific research project, led by a professor from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, where students conduct in-depth data strategy research throughout five-weeks.

The Kaggle Big Data and Machine Learning Competition is led by Dr. Zhang, a Ph.D. from Columbia University. In this course, students spend seven weeks exploring statistical knowledge, machine learning models, and popular programming languages such as R and Python, then finish by joining the Kaggle competition. Wherever your child’s passion lies, both courses will give them a competitive edge in their professional and academic careers by mastering some of the hottest topics.
