The Oppordemic team has advanced to two major business competitions in the United States: Diamond Challenge and Blue Ocean. Across the U.S., public school teachers devote a certain amount of their time to teaching about climate change in their classrooms. However, lectures alone are not enough to motivate students to address climate change. So how do we get students to actually be involved in protecting the environment? One of the most effective ways is to have these young learners participate in student-driven research projects.

What is a Student-Driven Research Project?

The Importance of Setting Goals

You’ve probably heard of the importance of setting goals, but how often do you execute it? How often do you revisit your goals? Probably, not as much as you should be. Goals help trigger new positive behaviors and help guide your focus and sustain your momentum. It also helps you perform better and promote a sense of self-mastery. If you don’t set goals, you’ll probably be like a sailor without a compass in the middle of the ocean. You can also think of it this way; goals are comparable to money. If you spend as you wish without keeping track…

“Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” — Jack Welch. So, why is it important for youth to learn leadership skills? Currently, the world’s youth population is around 1.8 billion, which means that these young people have a great chance to become successful and effective leaders. The youth are in the stage of their life where they are receptive to change, prepare for their professional life, and inspire other aspiring young leaders.

At Harmony Plus, we have multiple exclusive programs where we train young students…

On August 14, 2021, Harmony Plus was invited as a judge for CASPA (Chinese American Semiconductor Association) Science Fair! Though Harmony Plus only judged the middle school section, we were in the presence of several talented kids, as young as 11 years old, with projects in game development, mathematical modeling, decoding, a bio-fuel lighter, and more. It was incredible to see the young participants’ creativity and skills as they executed their ideas. But first and foremost, if you’re not familiar with CASPA, here is a little bit more information about their organization:

What is CASPA?

Even if you’re not from the West Coast, you’ve probably heard of University of California (UC) schools and may have even considered applying — and for good reasons! Some even believe that UC schools are a better option than private schools. As a result, applying to UCs such as UC Berkeley and UCLA has become competitive due to their prestige, value, and diversity.

Like many private universities, the UC schools follow holistic admissions meaning that they go through the selection process by considering applicants’ experiences, attributes, and academic metrics. Due to this reason, students should put their best effort into…

The college admissions game is getting more cutthroat, especially as it pertains to big-name universities that employers love to see on a resume. This is a fact, and the numbers reflect it. For instance, community college enrollment dropped by 20% last application season. On the flip-side, Harvard saw a whopping 42% increase in applications submitted, with other Ivy League and prominent UCs like UCLA, Berkeley, etc also seeing double-digit increases in applicants. …

On July 24, 2021, Harmony Plus provided an exclusive FEC Technology Entrepreneurship class for CASPA (Chinese American Semiconductor Professional Associate) Science and Technology Festival which both students and parents attended. FEC (Future Entrepreneur Challenge) is Harmony Plus’s leading entrepreneurship training course. It is based on philosophical thinking and theory, combined with entrepreneurship, Silicon Valley innovation, and entrepreneurial resources. …

Every student can get good grades in math, but not every student can master it. I know this for a fact because I used to be a math teacher who focused mainly on coaching students to win competitions. Now I’m also a math instructor for Harmony Plus’s middle school and high school students.

Many parents are curious about their children’s math skills and often ask me where their child stands in class. Some of them assumed I only taught students with exceptional math abilities, but in reality, I’ve taught students all across the spectrum in terms of math abilities. For…
